Race wherever you’re based Posted On 26 March 2021

The tenth annual Mid Sussex Marathon (MSM) will take place this year, and like last year, the race is going virtual

Simon Adby, Race Director, spoke of his eagerness for the event, which takes place throughout the month of May: ‘This is the 10th year so we want even more people to get involved. We don’t mind how old you are, how experienced you are or even how you do it! Walk, run, hop, skip or in a wheelchair. It’s up to you, and the more creative, the better!’

He also discussed the incidental benefits which were seen from taking the race virtual last year, when adding, ‘The flexibility provided the challenge needed for serious runners whilst giving people who never would have believed they would complete a marathon a chance to experience the exhilarating feeling of achieving something amazing’.

As well as encouraging inexperienced runners to take part, the Mid Sussex Marathon are challenging entrants with the ‘full Mid Sussex Marathon experience’, which, if you’re up for it, encourages runners to either complete a marathon or half-marathon over the space of three consecutive days, running either ten or five miles each day.

Moreover though, the MSM is inviting anyone and everyone to take part this year. Their website alludes to this: ‘The MSMW2021 Virtual Race will provide an opportunity for everyone to participate in all of our unique events’. The statement goes on to promote the competitive side of running, saying, ‘If you have been missing the racing environment, then this is an opportunity to test yourself and engage with fellow competitors’.

To enter, all that participants must do is enter, choose their distance, and then complete their run whenever they want, in their favourite location. Participants must record their time, and after completing the challenge, should send the evidence of the distance run and time completed. To reward all those who take part, entrants will be given a fabulous Mid Sussex Marathon t-shirt and a coveted three-part medal.
