Haywards Heath Town Day proves an event to remember Posted On 17 September 2021

Mayor’s delight as families turn out for the festivities

The Haywards Heath Town Day, on September 11th has been branded ‘a tremendous success’.

This ringing endorsement came from the town council, with mayor Howard Mundin also in attendance to present several COVID-19 Community Support Awards. He was also keen to express the success of this instalment of the annual event and said: “What a simply stunning time I had at this event, meeting so many residents, charities, local businesses and community groups.

“It was so lovely to see families and friends having such a nice time out together, especially after the very difficult times we have all been through recently, and to see the smiles and excitement on the faces of our local children.”

Among the festivities, designed for all ages, was a selection of bands including ReVamp, Choir & Ko and The Fabulous Soul Kats, as well as a Poi Passion Fire Show, a magic show from Marco the Magician and a Great British Bark off dog show. The town’s football club also made an appearance to show off their skills, and the famous Titan the Robot, who has appeared alongside artists such as will.i.am and Rihanna, was on hand to greet the children throughout the day.

And although visitors were offered the chance to bring picnics to the nine-hour event, this did not mean there was a lack of food and drink services available at Victoria Park. Among some of the favourite food options was the S’mores stall, which was hosted by the Mid Sussex District Scouts, and anyone who was feeling like really getting the party started could indulge in a special ‘Titan the Robot’ themed cocktail or mocktail.

Newly-appointed District Commissioner for Mid Sussex Scouts, Mark Scholfield, took the opportunity to encourage volunteers to join. He said: “There’s huge demand for Scouting in Mid Sussex at the moment and this was a brilliant opportunity for us to raise awareness of our need for more volunteers.”
